Bluetopping

Here is a video to show our dozer doing some fine grading and skimming over those bluetops.

This development is coming right along; as shown from the sky...

And the earth...

As you can see in the photos, we were working in very dry conditions. We have been blessed this week with a great soaking rain. We (and the farmers) are very thankful.

We've Got the Moves.

Bluestone Construction was contracted to demolish a bank in Minot that is being rebuilt.

Some things are just to nice to tear down.

Instead of destroying a great timber-frame structure, it was picked up and moved out of town to a farmyard where it will be given a new lease at life, going from bank to barn.

Thanks to Huwe Housemovers of Minot for the relocation! Enjoy the beautiful photographs which show off North Dakota on a lovely morning.

Loaded up and ready to leave it's old home, where it has been Gate City Bank since the 80's.

Pulling out of it's old location to put a little delay in the early morning traffic!

From the highway...

To the gravel...

Across the prairie...

Right through a field! {with the farmer's permission, of course.}

And pulling up to the property.

Home sweet {new} home!

Dozing on the Job

We actually prefer when our employees doze on the job.
Dozing on the Job from Jennie Anderson on Vimeo.

In the video you can see some fine grading work on a residential road going in on Minot's north hill.

June Happenings

What has been going on in our world this June?

Well, we have been keeping quite busy, that is for certain. Here are some photos of a project going on in north Minot at a residential development.

We are also digging a large detention pond onsite.

Friday Projects

We are busy North of Minot working on a residential development for a developer. This week we are excavating for roads that we will be putting in.

Another project that is ongoing is a new storage yard for Dakota Fence. We have had 10 trucks hauling gravel onto the site this week.

Happy Weekend!

Building a Road of Scoria

Here are a few photos of what Dustin is up to today with the grader.

If you have driven around southwestern North Dakota, you will be familiar with the striking sight of the red roads contrasting against the blue North Dakota sky.

The rock that makes up these red roads is known as scoria, which is sandstone, clay, or shale baked by burning lignite coal.

Bluestone Construction is building some roads in the area for oil sites.

Water Tower Project

Another great project is underway today East of Minot.

A Bluestone excavator and bulldozer are onsite today kicking things of for the pad of a new water tower that will be going up this year.

In the News

Bluestone Construction makes the news!

New Excavator: Volvo 340D

It just wouldn't be right not to introduce the shining new member of the Bluestone fleet. Folks, meet the brand new Volvo 340D.

Fresh off the trailer onto the muddy job site!

Loading clay into our truck.

The excavator will not replace any of our other excavators, but will instead be used for larger projects. We will be putting it to good use this year!

Crawlspace Footings

One of our projects this week took us to the flood zone of Minot, where Minot's own Jim Olson (KXMC News legend) is rebuilding. His home was condemned after the flood took it's toll on the foundation, and was subsequently torn down. It left the Olsons with a hole in the ground.

Nobody wants a hole in the ground.

The foundation was filled in and compacted to the correct density in preparation for a crawlspace that will support the Olson's new home.

Leif points out something substantial.
Looking good!

Discussing a topic of great depth.

As of Friday, concrete has been poured for footings and forms stripped; next week will bring on the crawlspace walls and backfilling.

Spring Septic Systems

Here are some photos of one of our projects going on this week. We are installing a pressure mound septic system by Lake Audobon.

A local farmer was kind enough to provide us with some dirt.

The mound.

Other projects this week include site work for a large storage condo building going up in North Minot.

Preparing a Place for Volunteers

Last week one of our projects was preparing a gravel pad near a church for volunteers to camp. The volunteers are coming to help rebuild flooded homes in the area. [Minot, ND]

Equipment all lined up after a day's work.
Looking good.

New Water Truck

The newest addition to the Bluestone fleet is a 1996 Mack truck with a 18 speed transmission. It is a 3300 gallon, 170 hp Hydroseeder.

And it is awesome!

Hotel Foundation in the Heart of Oil Country

Here are some photos of a crawl space for a hotel near Tioga.

The project has been going well and we will be finishing pouring the remaining concrete walls next week to complete our portion of the job.

Gas Compressor Station

Here is our excavator at work at a natural gas compressor station [The Hove] where we are placing a pipeline. We have performed all the underground work at this station including trenching for electrical service and control wiring.
